A Revelation: Evangelical retail
Tomorrow, 13th November, a new shop is due to open in Dublin. Ordinarily not too remarkable. But this particular retailer is a little more interesting than that. Forever 21 is a USA-based retailer that sells cheap, slutty trendy clothes to the young folk. It also sells a lot more.
Frankie, my dear, I don’t give a Sam
So, Cat McKenzie. You say you love Sam Murray. But do you? Do you?! The dilemma: Sam or Frankie. Much like: strawberries or a plate of vomit. Or: jazz tootlings or Justin Beiber. Or: a hot cop or a feckin’ feck-up.
Lesbian mothers seek full custody
Custody battles must be a total nightmare. You are fighting for your kids after all, I can’t imagine how that must feel. However, sometimes people need to be less naive to start out with, especially when the family is an alternative one.

Stephen Fry writes
Since last Sunday, the interwebs were all in a flurry over comments attributed to Stephen Fry. According to an article in The Observer, he is alleged to have said effectively that straight women are disgusted by straight men and by sex. When I read the article on Sunday morning, I was instantly suspicious.

Twists and turns, more naughtiness, and “exciting announcements” from the BBC: that’s right, it’s Lip Service, episode three!
Review: ‘The Kids Are All Right’
I do think there are potentially two good stories that could have been told in this film: one about a difficult time in a relationship between two women, and one about their kids finding their sperm donor. And in fact, I really did want to like this film. But what the hell is the story with that plot?

No Hate
Last night across the UK, vigils were held to speak out against hate crimes, and to remember those who have been victims. There is no hate crime legislation in Ireland, so in this country hate crimes technically don’t exist.

Phwoar and Peace
HAL has previously had her spake about BBC3′s Lip Service – in particular she seemed focused on that Frankie character, played by Ruta Gedmintas. Well, who I want to talk about is the character of Sam. Detective Sergeant Sam, to be precise.

They need to know: It gets better
Gay people have been dying from unnatural causes for a very long time. Notably the AIDS epidemic killed thousands of gay men before the straight world starting even talking about it. Nobody cared until straight people started dying. Violent crimes directed at non gender conforming people have been killing trans people, lesbian, bisexual and gay [...]
