The fall season is almost back in the states so I thought I’d take a look at a few shows I am really looking forward to seeing again. The small screen really comes good on those dark Irish evenings

L.A. GLAAD Awards 2012
GLAAD have been at it again, last weekend saw the L.A instalment of their annual trilogy of award shows. They always manage to pick the most deserving and this year has been no exception. Let April 21st 2012 be known as the “night of Chaz”.
GLAAD Media Award Nominations 2012
It’s that time of year again. GLAAD’s three annual award shows are on the horizon and the nominees are out. This year the class of nominee is wonderful, so who do we think should win and who’s been left out?
Calzona Get Married on Grey’s
Grey’s Anatomy did it again this week by having their two beautiful doctors, Callie Torres and Arizona Robbins, get hitched in a gorgeous ceremony.
Of course they didn’t let us down in the writing of this one and some great points were madeA
Calzona Update
The last two episodes of Grey’s has had our wonderful duo at it’s centre. Important issues are raised and many tears are shead (not least by me). Time for an update
A Suppa Earl Gae
Morning folks! Happy weekend, in Dublin the sun is shining and its looking like its going to be a glorious day! Thank god the wind from the last few days has abated, I felt sure I saw Dorothy’s house fly past at one stage.
Álainn or Appallin’: Calzona
Over the last year or so I have blogged on a number of occasions about lesbian/bi visibility on TV. One of the couples flying the flag out there is on Grey’s Anatomy, Dr Callie Torres and Dr Arizona Robbins, better known as Calzona. Callie has been in the show since season 2 and is brilliantly [...]
Grey’s Anatomy SPOLIER
Season 7 of Grey’s Anatomy put our lesbian/bi ladies back in the spotlight with some interesting storylines. Want to know more, read on
New Season Begins
Some of my favourite TV shows are coming back on in the US this week and I can’t wait. Lots of gay interest amoung them too, not to mention some hotties.
Let’s take a look at some promos!
Vote – Who Are Your Favourite Couple?
Let’s be honest, in the history of tellyland we’ve been pretty starved for lady-loving ladies. Over in the states they’ve had it even worse than us. In my lifetime (shurrup down the back) the first lesbian couple on TV were Beth Jordache and Margaret Clements in Brookside back in 1993, American audiences had to wait until Tara put a spell on Willow in 2000. But who are your favourite? Vote and let us know.
Fan Fiction
For those of us who get very attached to fictional characters on TV, and in books, and are gutted when our favourite character is killed off or gets married to some man, fan fiction writers are at the ready to put that smile back on our face.
Every type of story is out there, some good and some not so good but well done to those who write them for giving us the stories we crave.
Visibility Matters
Many of us can still remember long before Bette and Tina, or even Helen and Nikki, to a time when TV was deviod of lesbianiam.
Have we really come on as far as we think or are we still watching programs week in week out for the chance of one small story line?
YouTube Junkie
Is watching TV on TV a dead duck? I for one am now addicted to YouTube where we can enjoy all the lesbian storylines from around the globe, some nice lesbian is always out there to put subtitles up for us.
Callica
It’s very rare that a mainstream TV show has a lesbian storyline that you actually care about. Well, it’s highly unusual for me anyway! I normally find the gay characters that come in and out of weekly dramas to be two-dimensional at best and the stories they are in to be weak with very little chemistry.
A Suppa Earl Gae – Feb 17 to March 7
A quick run-down of the things not hitting the headlines because men and women in bad suits are too busy wittering on about the economy. There is good news as well as bad, for example in the UK Gordon Brown supports equality yet a gay man is killed in a homophobic attack.
The Sapphic Screen – Nov 3 to 8
Ladies, our voices have been heard. Yes, Lez the Leprechaun is back in Sky Movies. How do I know? When you see Boys Don’t Cry and Nina’s Heavenly Delights, you know that order has been restored.
The Sapphic Screen – Sept 29 to Oct 3
Lots of delicious helpings of Mariska (above) as Olivia Benson in Law & Order SVU this week, and the lesbian leprechaun in Sky Movies is still ensuring we get some fabulous faggy fare. I have to find out who she is and buy her a drink or two.
