<p>We asked you to pose your questions and we sent them on to Ms Peace. See how good we are to you? <a href="http://www.heatherpeace.com" target="_blank">Heather Peace</a> is performing a special finale show at the Springfield Hotel in Kildare on Saturday,  23<sup>rd</sup> March.</p>
<p>httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&amp;v=yJQqNz8aikg<br />
<strong>You lot</strong> &#8211; We had lots and lots (and lots) of queries from foreign readers asking about when Heather is going to perform in certain countries&#8230;.Northern Ireland, France, Portugal, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, South America, Portland Oregon&#8230;.everywhere.</p>
<p><strong>Heather </strong>- We don&#8217;t have any plans as of yet. It&#8217;s difficult when you don&#8217;t know venues. The sound systems are so important for getting it right and these are not things we could check. The reason Australia happened was through the support of Sydney Mardi Gras and the company Rude Bookings who sourced the venues and worked out where the fan base might be. We would need that same support from either a festival or a bookings company based in the countries we were visiting. International tours are a big risk when you are doing it independently. Who knows for the future? We would love it to happen. There&#8217;s nothing like being able to travel with your work.</p>
<p><strong>Nicola </strong>asked -  if you got to pick any venue to play at, in any country, what would it be and why?</p>
<p><strong>Heather </strong>- No explanation needed. The Royal Albert Hall, London or The Opera House, Sydney. A gig on Rio beach would be something I wouldn&#8217;t turn down too!!</p>
<p><strong>Dory </strong>-  do you feel just before to start a concert. Do you have any superstition before singing or acting? does your girlfriend come with you when you travel for work?</p>
<p><strong>Heather </strong>- I&#8217;m pretty difficult to be around from an hour before I go on as I can&#8217;t concentrate on anything anyone is saying. I always have to brush my teeth a couple of minutes before I go on and I have some ridiculous warm up exercises that make me sound a little crazy.</p>
<div>
<p>Theatre is full of superstition. We never say <em>Macbeth </em>backstage, which was hard when I was actually in <em>Macbeth</em>! Little fact for you: the reason actors don&#8217;t like saying <em>Macbeth</em> backstage is because in Shakespeare&#8217;s time if the actors were being booed or having tomatoes thrown at them in the middle of a new play, they would come off stage and say &#8220;stuff it, let&#8217;s just do <em>Macbeth</em>&#8220;, it was always a sure fire hit with audiences. Therefore, if you say <em>Macbeth</em> backstage, it means your show is going to be a flop!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<div id="attachment_31092" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 487px"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/heather-Peace.jpg"><img class="size-large wp-image-31092 " title="Heather Peace" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/heather-Peace-682x1024.jpg" alt="" width="477" height="717" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">She&#39;ll be in Ireland in the flesh!</p></div>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
</div>
<p><strong>Agy </strong>-  I was wondering how has fan base changed through the years? And how do you find having to play in bigger venues on each tour?</p>
<p><strong>Heather </strong>- I love the big venues as it means we have the funds to take the whole band  and that&#8217;s such fun. But the small gigs make me happy as I feel it&#8217;s more personal with the audience. I don&#8217;t think about the audience demographic, I don&#8217;t know if it&#8217;s changing, I just want people, no matter who they are, going away having had a great night with lovely people.</p>
<p><strong>Rachel </strong>- Fairytales was essentially about past relationships and the fallout and fallback with love, but I wondered if you had ever written a song about someone you’ve worked with?</p>
<p><strong>Gis </strong>- what do you take inspiration from when writing a song, and in what way do you feel you have involved with your song writing ?</p>
<p><strong>Heather </strong>- I take inspiration from all sorts of things now and that&#8217;s how my writing has evolved. The first album was a very self involved album as it came from how I was feeling at the time when things were not going so well. It&#8217;s a diary really. My writing now takes inspiration from friend&#8217;s situations or from me actually sitting down and thinking up scenarios. I guess that&#8217;s why being an actor helps. I always want to tell a story to some extent. Poems and quotes also inspire me.</p>
<p><strong>Louise </strong>do actresses have an input on their characters look…ie.clothes, make-up, general demeanor or is that taken out of your hands and left solely in the hands of Director, Wardrobe and Make-up? As I pose this question I am mainly thinking of the character of Sam but curious of the process as a whole.</p>
<p><strong>Heather </strong>- Yes, we have an input. If you don&#8217;t feel comfortable in the way you look on screen then you will feel Inhibited when you work. Sam was my idea. The clothes I mean. I just thought that the whole trouser suit thing was a bit boring so I opted for waistcoats and then the high sleeves thing is just me!! I asked for flat shoes too so that I could swagger! A walk or attitude quite often comes from the footwear. That&#8217;s the same in theatre. If I play a girly girl in theatre I will wear heels from day one of rehearsals.</p>
<p>I did, however, want makeup for the character of Sam but was told that one of the characters had to not wear any and they had opted for me!! Damn it. I managed to get a bit more makeup in series 2 when the character went out on a night, they were sick of me moaning.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<div id="attachment_31093" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 285px"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/heather.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-31093" title="heather" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/heather.jpg" alt="" width="275" height="183" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Image from curvemag.com </p></div>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Amanda </strong>- What is your favourite thing to do besides the obvious music, acting, and being with Ellie and Bungle? Or what is something you really want to do? Besides skydiving. <img src='http://www.gaelick.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><strong>Heather </strong>- I just like being at home. That&#8217;s all. Being at home. Pottering. Cooking. I love cooking. That&#8217;s it.</p>
<p><strong>Louise </strong>- What&#8217;s your favourite travel destination and why?</p>
<p><strong>Heather </strong>- Asia. Specifically Thailand. I want to travel Vietnam, Cambodia and malaysia very soon. I love the food and the people. They have a much more generous spirit than us.</p>
<p>A lot of people also want to know if you&#8217;ll get married. If so, who would play at your wedding :<br />
Also, Cloda says, &#8220;My partner and I have been together 11 years and I have a son in his mid-teens. I am curious to know what your view is on Irish civil partnership rights but in particular the lack of guardianship rights for the non-biological parent. Do you think this is something which should be changed to afford the ‘other’ parent a say?&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Heather </strong>- I don&#8217;t really want to talk about when, where or how I&#8217;m getting married as it&#8217;s a very private matter. I&#8217;ve met the person it&#8217;s going to happen with but that&#8217;s that. As far as all the other issues, one could go on and on about what&#8217;s right or wrong about various situations but it all boils down to one thing and that&#8217;s equality. If it&#8217;s ok for one section of the community then it should be the same for everyone else. Equality, that&#8217;s all.</p>
<div>
<p><em>Heather&#8217;s new single Fight For (Jack Guy remix) is available now on iTunes. The Fairytales special edition album is also out so get <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/fight-for-jack-guy-remix-single/id603481472" target="_blank">clicking</a>. </em></p>

		<description><![CDATA[There haven't been that many TV shows based around a group of lesbians so we can't be too picky with what we watch. However, Lip Service had some genuine potential in my book, I'm sorry to hear the BBC won't be giving Sam, Tess and Lexy another run at it.

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Well I don&#8217;t think too many of us are surprised but I have to admit to being more than a little disappointed.  The BBC have confirmed that their lesbian drama <em>Lip Service</em> will not be returning for a third series.  Personally I thought season 2 was far better than season 1 and that the change in characters was a positive thing.  However, the Beeb don&#8217;t seem to agree!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<div id="attachment_30271" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 569px"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/lip-service.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-30271 " title="lip-service" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/lip-service.jpg" alt="" width="559" height="314" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Those were the days....</p></div>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Harriet Braun who created the show Tweeted</p>
<blockquote><p>Sadly BBC Three have confirmed there won’t be a 3rd series of Lip Service. A huge, huge thank you to all the fans for all your support xx</p></blockquote>
<p>Bummer.  I wanted to see what happened Tess, they couldn&#8217;t have had her story even slightly wrapped up for me, no?</p>
<p>Those of you who will mourn the loss of sexy Sam from our screens can see Heather Peace in BBC&#8217;s <em>Waterloo Road</em> and if you fancy some Lexy with that then you won&#8217;t have to long too wait.  Anna Skellern is set to join Sue Perkins on her new show where she plays gay with Shelley Conn (<em>Nina’s Heavenly Delights</em>), yummy!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<div id="attachment_30272" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 608px"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/sam_lip-service.png"><img class="size-full wp-image-30272 " title="sam_lip-service" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/sam_lip-service.png" alt="" width="598" height="336" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Happier times</p></div>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>So what do you think?  Was the show dead in the water or was there lots of potential from those lovely Scottish lasses?</p>

Still no confirmation on a date, though.  UPDATE &#8211; 9pm on 20th of April. What is the Beeb&#8217;s problem? They have a fab show with great acting and have no idea what the hell to do with it.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s get down to the issue at hand though, we&#8217;re back pondering the conundrum: Team Sam or Team Frankie? When season one ended, we were deadlocked on our <a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/11/cast-your-vote/12793/" target="_blank">poll</a>. Here&#8217;s hoping season two gives us more (coughteamfrankiecough) to think about; hot passion or mature relationship?</p>
<p>According to Ruta Gedmintas, this season Frankie is trying to get her shit together for the woman she loves:</p>
<blockquote><p>Frankie is making a conscious effort to be mature, to learn from her mistakes and to try and be less selfish. She may not always succeed but she&#8217;s definitely trying. Frankie is in love&#8230;head over heels. She just wants to protect that now</p></blockquote>
<p>There&#8217;s a problem though, how can you protect a relationship based on infidelity?</p>
<blockquote><p>Frankie isn&#8217;t a bad person. She is continuously remorseful and battles with herself daily. She is incredibly sensitive but it is coupled with defensiveness, which gets her into trouble.</p>
<p>Sam is pretty much the perfect girlfriend but Frankie just needs the right girl, with enough love and patience.</p></blockquote>
<p>Is Cat the right girl? Well, if things are tough for Frankie, poor ould Cat is having an awful time of it. If shagging two gorgeous women who adore her could be considered a problem. Laura Fraser, who plays Cat, agrees, &#8220;historically, affairs tend to lead to heartbreak and I don&#8217;t think Cat will escape unscathed&#8221;.</p>
<blockquote><p>Because she&#8217;s lying to Sam it is muddying her relationship. She loves Sam but she is full of fear and is terrified of losing both of them. The lies and the shame are clouding Cat’s judgement and messing with her head.</p></blockquote>
<p>Hmmm, all of this sounds very good for Team Sam. Heather Peace, singer/songwriter and the lady behind Sam offers home hints:</p>
<blockquote><p>Sam totally thinks that Cat is ‘The One’. Her whole thinking is about their future together from this point on. That&#8217;s what makes the betrayal on Cat&#8217;s part difficult to watch.</p>
<p>Cat also is confused. It would be so much clearer if she didn&#8217;t love Sam but she does. It&#8217;s the unfinished business with Frankie that confuses Cat. She was the love of her life that walked out on her without an explanation.</p></blockquote>
<p>There&#8217;s more to Sam, though, than just one point in the love triangle. This &#8220;a much darker second series for Sam,&#8221; says Heather:</p>
<blockquote><p>There are things going on in her life that have an effect on how she deals with the pressures of her job. Sam has always been the strong one, but this series we start to see chinks in her armour.</p>
<p>The second series sees her having to come to terms with the fact that she cannot always be so strong or deal with things alone. It was interesting, after her strength in series one, to look at her vulnerabilities in this series. It&#8217;s quite a journey for Sam.</p></blockquote>
<p>It&#8217;s all so exciting! I&#8217;m sorry people but I just have to stay on the good ship Frankie, not just because she&#8217;s so incredibly hot. Ahem. It&#8217;s love innit?</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The people over at QUOD.tv have a lot of things going on. From their regular films and features, to the new <a href="http://pinksixtynews.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">PinkSixty</a> daily gay newsbrief and now they have produced their very first episode of &#8220;The Birdbox&#8221; &#8212; a lesbian talk show filmed in London.</p>
<p>We can&#8217;t embed the entire episode but you can view it for free on <a href="http://video.quod.tv/QUOD_ON_DEMAND/THE_BIRDBOX" target="_blank">QUOD</a>. Here&#8217;s the promo:</p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="560" height="340" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XFmqbRaCEVY?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="340" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XFmqbRaCEVY?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<p>The two hosts, <a class="zem_slink" title="Diva (magazine)" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diva_%28magazine%29">Diva</a> magazine editor Jane Czyzselska and comedian <a class="zem_slink" title="Jen Brister" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jen_Brister">Jen Brister</a>, chat their way through the show casually, with Jane mostly doing the heavy lifting while Jen makes pervy jokes about almost everything. That&#8217;s not necessarily a criticism of Ms Brister, by the way; I usually think most lesbian-themed events (and lesbians) are not quite pervy enough.</p>
<div id="attachment_13244" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/JenJaneSofa01effect.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-13244" title="Jen&amp;JaneSofa01effect" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/JenJaneSofa01effect-300x240.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="240" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">hosts: Jen Brister &amp; Jane Czyzselska</p></div>
<p>The first episode consisted of <a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2009/12/your-new-years-eve-shaken-or-stirred/6174/" target="_blank">mojitos</a> (yay!), 1920s fashion, stories of gang life, iPhone assisted lesbian dating, and lesbian sports.</p>
<p>Since the episode was largely filmed in a bar, the mojitos were not a surprise, but they did look yummy, so I took it as a viewing requirement to make myself one. <a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2009/12/your-new-years-eve-shaken-or-stirred/6174/" target="_blank">They&#8217;re easy to make</a>.</p>
<p>Josephene was an impressive musical guest, who also added to the perv factor by alternating grabbing her crotch and using the mic as a make-shift sex toy (not quite). Her song &#8220;Bad Dykes&#8221; was a lot of fun and her voice was amazing.</p>
<p>There were segments on how to find a date using an iPhone app (spoiler: don&#8217;t even bother), on lesbian teams in the <a class="zem_slink" title="Gay Games" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_Games">Gay Games</a> (awesome) and on how the 1920s fashion angle can be pretty androgynous. The segment was presented by the smartly  besuited Erin Murphy-Muscatelli but unfortunately, the fashion part of it was largely devoted to lace, ruffles and how important the powder colour is for your eyebrows and not about dapper suits for the boi in all of us. (ahem). So the promised how 1920s fashion is androgynous was a bit disappointing. Because in my world the words &#8220;lace&#8221; and &#8220;ruffles&#8221; are rarely androgynous.</p>
<p>It was followed by an interesting and relevant conversation about why the women present they way they do, to aid in being &#8220;read&#8221; as lesbian and how lesbians wear interesting socks. I should note that no one was wearing any visible lace or ruffles.</p>
<div id="attachment_13242" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/GreenRoom02effect.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-13242" title="GreenRoom02effect" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/GreenRoom02effect-300x240.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="240" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">guests: Trish Duggin &amp; Lulu Beliveau</p></div>
<p>The next guest, Lulu Beliveau, spoke touchingly and candidly about her time in a gang, although she admits that, at the time, she wouldn&#8217;t have thought of her friends as a gang. She talks as well about how hard it is for lesbian gang members to come out. Well worth a watch, just for this interview.</p>
<p>Trish Duggin joins the women to discuss the Gay Games but also homophobia in sport. She speaks about her own experiences being out in the world of Karate.</p>
<p>Finally, actor and comedian <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Amelia-Gildea/140951268066?v=info" target="_self">Amelia Gildea</a> runs around London trying to find love with the help of an iPhone app. She&#8217;s not at all successful, but the segment is good fun.</p>
<p>All in all, it promises to be a lesbian talk show, which is something that doesn&#8217;t seem to exist anywhere else. The fact that it&#8217;s UK and not US-based means content that will be somewhat relevant to women on this nearby island. And the first episode was great fun to watch, especially with a mojito.</p>
<p>The preview for the next episode is now available and they&#8217;re interviewing the very popular <a title="Heather Peace" rel="wikipedia" href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/11/heather-peace/12999/">Heather Peace</a> of BBC&#8217;s Lip Service! I also look forward to seeing what the official cocktail of Episode 2 is.</p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="560" height="340" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/J5Ph_XXLlaw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="340" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/J5Ph_XXLlaw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Good Morning Gaelickers! I hope you are wrapped up warm wherever you might be, whether snuggled in bed with the morning papers or out and about having Sunday brunch, tis a cold one out there. So I said to myself, what better way to get the Gaelickers warmed up than a post about beautiful ladies? I know, it&#8217;s a stretch but work with me <img src='http://www.gaelick.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> Over the last year, poor Hal has slaved over the Alainn Or Appalling category bringing you you lovely ladies every couple of weeks. When it all gets too much for her, i.e, she&#8217;s at the watercooler whinging about having to look at one more picture of Jennifer Beals, the others dive in to rescue her. One can see how it might all get too much.</p>
<p>Without further ado, I&#8217;m going to run through the ladies of the last 12 months and then you get to pick who&#8217;s your favorite. There&#8217;s a wide mix of them and in order to refresh your memory I will post a pic and a link to the original post, don&#8217;t want you going and voting without being fully informed <img src='http://www.gaelick.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Jan got off to a good start with Rachel Maddow, she&#8217;s a huge fav with the lesbians in the US, not so much here but she racked up some votes.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/rachel-maddow.jpg" alt="" /><br />
<a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/01/alainn-or-appalling-rachel-maddow/6289/">Rachel Maddow</a></p>
<p>Next up, she broke our hearts in Xena, I still can&#8217;t talk about the ending, my therapist said it is something I will come to terms with, the lovely Lucy Lawless:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/lucy-lawless.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/01/alainn-or-appalling-lucy-lawless/6631/">Lucy Lawless</a></p>
<p>Is she, isn&#8217;t she?! Ah who cares, when she appears on screen with that gun and the badge, I dare you not to swoon.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/mariska-hargitay.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/01/alainn-or-appalling-mariska-hargitay/6972/">Mariska Hargitay</a></p>
<p>Is it just me or is getting hot in here? <em>* takes off scarf *</em></p>
<p>Next up, the delectable Anne Hathaway, she is just so lovely!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/anne-hathaway.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/02/alainn-or-appalling-anne-hathaway/7419/">Anne Hathaway</a></p>
<p>Susan Sarandon could make a tv commercial watchable.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/susan-sarandon.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/03/alainn-or-appalling-susan-sarandon/7653/">Susan Sarandon</a></p>
<p>Getting us through the rest of cold March was Queen Latifah</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/queen-latifah.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/03/queen-latifah/7848/">Queen Latifah</a></p>
<p>Glee ruled this year and with the constant hand-holding, hugging and cuteness people asked what was going on with Lea Michele and Dianna Agron. Personally, I think they&#8217;re good mates and are a bit touchy feely.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/faberry.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/03/alainn-or-appalling-faberry/8075/">faberry</a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Hal&#8217;s favorite lady,<br />
<img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/jennifer-beals.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/04/alainn-or-appalling-jennifer-beals/8165/">Jennifer Beals</a></p>
<p>For me she&#8217;s always be Susan Trinder in Fingersmith, amazing actress</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/sally-hawkins.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/04/alainn-or-appalling-sally-hawkins/8465/">Sally Hawkins</a></p>
<p>Getting it on with Julieanne Moore in Chloe, Amanda is one lucky wench!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/amanda-seyfried.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/05/amanda-seyfried/8725/">Amanda Seyfried</a></p>
<p>I&#8217;m now going to show my age by saying I do not have the foggiest who this lady is, I think she sings in some band.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/marina-diamandis.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/05/alainn-or-appalling-marina-diamandis/9046/">Marina Diamandis</a></p>
<p>Stockard Channing. Legend.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/stockard-channing.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/06/alainn-or-appalling-stockard-channing/9253/">Stockard Channing</a></p>
<p>She can twang my guitar any time, the lovely Chely Wright. AND she came out <img src='http://www.gaelick.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> Breaking poor Brad&#8217;s heart, but sure he can write a song about it <img src='http://www.gaelick.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/chely-wright.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/06/alainn-or-appalling-chely-wright/9635/">Chely Wright</a></p>
<p>Click_here&#8217;s favourite lady, Lucy Kennedy.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/lucy-kennedy.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/07/alainn-or-appallin-lucy-kennedy/10273/">Lucy Kennedy</a></p>
<p>In July CherryBomb raved about Joan Jett.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/joan-jett.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/07/alainn-or-appalling-joan-jett/10724/">Joan Jett</a></p>
<p>Orange waxed lyrical about Kathryn Thomas:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/kathryn-thomas.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/08/alainn-or-appalling-kathryn-thomas-2/10735/">Kathryn Thomas</a></p>
<p>Now, this woman&#8217;s voice does things to me as the lovely Hal pointed out in her post on Imelda. Going to see her live in 2 weeks, cannot wait.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/imelda-may.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/10/alainn-or-appalling-imelda-may/11825/">Imelda May</a></p>
<p>She divided the lesbian lobby into two camps, Team Frankie and Team Sam.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/laura-fraser.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/10/laura-fraser/12307/">Laura Fraser</a></p>
<p>Don&#8217;t get it but you all seem to like her judging from all the votes for her.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/heather-peace.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/11/heather-peace/12999/">Heather Peace</a></p>
<p>and finally Annette Benning</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/aora/annette-benning.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/12/alainn-or-appalling-annette-bening/13187/">Annette Bening</a>.</p>
<p>There you have it folks! Who was your favourite? Anyone you want to see us do next year so to speak <img src='http://www.gaelick.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p>Born the same month as my lovely self, Heather Peace is both a musician and an actress.  She began her career using both of these talents starring in musicals such as <em>My Fair Lady</em> before starting to show up on our TV screens with small roles in <em>The Bill</em> and <em>Emmerdale</em>.  Heather then went on to get into the action with some meaty roles in shows like <em>London&#8217;s Burning</em> and <em>Ultimate Force</em>. Peace has not allowed herself be typecast however, and went on to play a single mother in <em>The Chase</em>.</p>
<p>Heather has not let all of this acting success hinder her music career and gigs around Pride events as well as sell out concerts in the UK.  Something tells me her next tour will be larger than anything she has done before, after all, she did steel many a heart while she appeared as DS Sam Murray in BBC3&#8242;s <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00tq4d9">Lip Service</a>.  In fact, putting all of her achievements together the people at the Independent have placed Heather at no 40 on their <a href="http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/news/the-iiosi-pink-list-2010-2040472.html">Pink List</a>, which lists the &#8220;most influential gay and lesbian people in Britain today&#8221;.  Impressive eh.</p>
<p>So what is it that made her appearance on Lip Service spark such a reaction?  I <a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/heatherpeace2.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-13004" title="heatherpeace" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/heatherpeace2.jpg" alt="" width="225" height="262" /></a>wonder if the writers knew that so many people watching thought she was sexier than Frankie?  Perhaps they wrote Sam as a character that was rock solid and dependable, the one your best friend would want you to choose, but assumed we would all find Frankie hotter.  The fact there was such a split in opinion between the two characters added a great deal to the show but something tells me the show creators thought the whole audience would want Cat to choose Frankie.  I could be wrong, but my guess is that Heather&#8217;s portrayal of Sam added a great deal to a story that could have been quiet dull and obvious.  Or perhaps I am just trying to desperately convince myself they won&#8217;t write her out of it if we are lucky enough to be graced with a second season!</p>
<p>So what do you think of the sultry Ms Peace?</p>

		<description><![CDATA[So, Cat McKenzie. You say you love Sam Murray. But do you? Do you?! The dilemma: Sam or Frankie. Much like: strawberries or a plate of vomit. Or: jazz tootlings or Justin Beiber. Or: a hot cop or a feckin’ feck-up.

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So help me, Cat McKenzie, but I have a right mind to bate ya with a gate.</p>
<p>You &#8220;love&#8221; Sam Murray.  But do you?  <strong><em>Do you</em>??</strong></p>
<p>The dilemma: Sam or Frankie. Much like: strawberries or a plate of vomit. Or: jazz tootlings or Justin Beiber. (They do look similar, don&#8217;t they?) Or: a hot cop or a feckin&#8217; feck-up.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s some <a title="Lip Service - Gaelick.com" href="http://www.gaelick.com/tag/lip-service/" target="_blank">Lip Service</a> from yours truly: Sort yerself out, woman! If you can&#8217;t see how fantastically fantastic Officer McDreamy is (and don&#8217;t forget, your words: &#8220;I&#8217;m too old to be dating fuck ups!&#8221;), then there&#8217;s just no helping you.</p>
<p>Let us compare and contrast:</p>
<p><a title="Phwoar and Peace - Gaelick.com" href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/10/phwoar-and-peace/12275/" target="_blank"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-12280" title="Heather Peace Sam Lip Service BBC3 Facebook" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Heather-Peace-Sam-Lip-Service-BBC3-Facebook.jpg" alt="" width="190" height="285" /><strong>Officer McDreamy</strong></a>:</p>
<ul>
<li>Sorted.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Is really rather tall, actually.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Doesn&#8217;t mind being called &#8220;a moose&#8221;.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Can be brave.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Copes well with stress.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Has perspective. Helped by seeing corpses.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Copes well with shirts. And trouser suits. And waistcoats.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Doesn&#8217;t shag boys.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Can be a bit scary. In a good way.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Thoroughly attends to her &#8220;desk duties&#8221; whenever required.</li>
</ul>

</ul>
<ul>
<li> Shags kleptomaniacs.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Pouts.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Shags in morgues next to corpses.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Has hair that&#8217;s almost as bad as Shane McCutcheon&#8217;s. Or Justin Bieber&#8217;s.</li>

</ul>
<ul>
<li> Lacks perspective. (Shagging next to corpses doesn&#8217;t seem to help.)</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Stirs shit.  At every possible opportunity.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Might possibly not actually be Francesca Alan.</li>
</ul>
<p>I think, therefore, we can scientifically conclude that Detective Sergeant Sam Murray is your only woman.</p>
<p>Oh and Cat, no thanks is needed. &#8216;Tis nay bother, hen.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Following on from HAL's Ginger Nut post I thought I'd put together a list of some lovely brunettes. Of course there were too many to fit into one post but I did my best - tough job eh!

No related posts.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A while ago the lovely HAL did a post on some sexy <a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/05/nuts-about-gingers/8858/">Ginger Nuts</a> but being a brown haired girl myself I thought I would take the torch off her and carry on with some sexy brunettes.</p>
<p><strong>Jennifer Beals</strong><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/jennifer-beals.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-12456" title="jennifer-beals" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/jennifer-beals.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>Best known among lesbians as Bette from <em>The L Word</em> this lady is as sexy as they come.  With roles in films like <em>Flashdance</em> and <em>The Book of Eli </em>Beals is a hot commodity. Those eyes, that hair of authority, its all just so swoon inspiring.</p>
<p>If you miss seeing her every week then fear not, she will appear shortly in the new police drama <em>Ride-Along</em>.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Simone-Lahbib.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-12458" title="Simone Lahbib" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Simone-Lahbib.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>Simone Lahbib</strong></p>
<p>How many of us sat glued to <em>Bad Girls</em> and dreamed of being locked up with Simone Lahbib?  She was the hottest thing on TV for years on end, the chemistry she had with Mandana Jones poured from the screen and never really aged.  You can watch them over and over, not that I have <em>*cough*</em>.  The sound of her voice alone does things to me.   She has gone on to star in <em>Monarch of the Glen</em> and <em>Wire in the Blood</em>.</p>
<p><strong>Laura Sanchez<a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Laura-Sanchez.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-12460" title="Laura Sanchez" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Laura-Sanchez.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></strong></p>
<p><em>Les Hombres De Paco</em> is one of those shows that is so rubbish it is totally addictive.  Made all the more so by the beautiful Laura Sanchez.  Sanchez plays lesbian police officer Pepa and although she is a model turned actress, she is one of the best actors in the show (OK, I know that&#8217;s not hard, but work with me).  Pepa married the gorgeous Silva on the show in a gorgeous wedding, what the writers did then I will never forgive, NEVER!</p>
<p><strong>Lena Heady</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Lena-Heady.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-12462" title="Lena-Heady" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Lena-Heady.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>Lena Heady is one of those actors that pops up every now and again and you think to yourself &#8220;oh, this could be good, I like her&#8221;.  Her films include gems like <em>Imagine You and Me</em> and <em>300</em> but she may be best known for her title role in <em>Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles</em>.  She can play soldier with me any day of the week.</p>
<p>Heady has eyes that draw you in with equal measure intensity and softness.  I don&#8217;t think many of us would say no.</p>
<p><strong>Heather Peace<a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/heatherpeace.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-12467" title="heatherpeace" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/heatherpeace.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></strong></p>
<p>There isn&#8217;t much I can ad to click here&#8217;s <a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/10/phwoar-and-peace/12275/">post</a> on the gorgeous Heather.  She&#8217;s talented, beautiful, sexy and gay.  There isn&#8217;t really much more we can ask for.  Peace is, of course, currently steeling the show on BBC3&#8242;s <em>Lip Service</em> as the amazing Sam.  Who knew cops could be so damn hot?  &#8220;Do you want me to show you?&#8221; &#8211; yes please!</p>
<p>Not only can she act but she also had a hit single, a cover of Bette Midler&#8217;s <em>The Rose</em> &#8211; swoon.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/jordana-brewster.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-12520" title="jordana-brewster" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/jordana-brewster.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>Jordana Brewster</strong></p>
<p>From cop to criminal in one sexy move.  Jordana has been in movies like <em>The Fast and the Furious</em>, but it is as Lucy Diamond in <em>D.E.B.S.</em> that we all remember her.  The film itself could have been a flop if it wasn&#8217;t for the cuteness between Lucy and Amy, it&#8217;s a film you can watch over and over and always enjoy.</p>
<p>Brewster is currently on TV in <em>Chuck</em> and <em>Dark Blue</em>.</p>
<p><strong>Anne Hathaway<a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/anne-hathaway.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-12521" title="anne-hathaway" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/anne-hathaway.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></strong></p>
<p>We can&#8217;t leave out the lovely Ms Hathaway.  Known not only as a beautiful actress but also for her wonderful <a href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/02/alainn-or-appalling-anne-hathaway/7419/">stance</a> on the church and homosexuality.  Anne has stared in some big budget movies and held her own with the amazing Meryl Streep and Heath Ledger.  She remains, however, one of those stars that come across as totally grounded.  Definitely no diva going on here.</p>
<p><strong>Helen Baxendale</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/hellen-baxendale.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-12522" title="hellen baxendale" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/hellen-baxendale.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>Helen is possibly best known for her roles as Rachel in the TV show <em>Cold Feet</em> and as Emily in <em>Friends </em>but it was way back in 1997 that she first caught my eye.  She starred in a wonderful TV drama <em>The Investigator</em>.  Her real life character, Sgt. Caroline Meagher, was a military police officer given the task of removing lesbians from the military, however, she herself was gay, so not such an easy job.</p>
<p>Baxendale is set to star in the UK TV&#8221;s new thriller <em>Kidnap and Ransom</em>.</p>
<p><strong>Laura Fraser<a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Laura_Fraser1.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-12523" title="Laura_Fraser" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Laura_Fraser1.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Fraser is one of those actresses that could probably play anyone, and you&#8217;d still sympathise with her character.  I love her because she has played lesbian characters a half a dozen times and always brings a smile to your face.  She was in <em>The Investigator</em> with Helen Baxendale and currently stars as Cat in BBC3&#8242;s <em>Lip Service</em>, with Heather Peace (see above).  For me she brings all the characters in the show together and brings realism and humour to the show, I can&#8217;t help but find her adorable.</p>
<p><strong>Sigourney Weaver</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Sigourney-Weaver.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-12529" title="Sigourney-Weaver" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Sigourney-Weaver.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>I just can&#8217;t leave out Sigourney.  She has an endless list of credits ranging from <em>Copycat</em> to <em>Avatar</em> but for me she was at her best in the Alien films.  &#8220;Get away from her you bitch!&#8221; has to be one of the most recognisable movie quotes of the last 20 years.  Weaver is always believable and has a great sense of comic timing.  She is a great actress with a wide range and a beautiful woman to boot.</p>
<p>Soon you will be able to see her in a host of new films, including Nicolas Roeg&#8217;s <em>Night Train</em>.</p>
<p><strong>Famke Janssen<a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Famke_Janssen.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-12530" title="Famke_Janssen" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Famke_Janssen.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></strong></p>
<p>My personal favourite lady!  There is just something about Famke that makes my knees go weak, tell me I&#8217;m not alone in this.  Those eyes, that face &#8211; yum!  Most people will know here as <em>Dr Grey /Phenoix</em> in the X-Men movies and if you missed them you may recognise her as <em>Nip/Tuck&#8217;s</em> Ava.</p>
<p>This woman could play a plastic bag and I&#8217;d go see her.</p>
<p>So who have I left out?  Well the list is endless, Lynda Carter, Emily Blunt, Ashley Judd, Sandra Bullock, Jodie Foster, Angelina Jolie, the list goes on and on and on.  So many lovely ladies, so little space on our screens.</p>
<p>Please comment below and let us know your favourites.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Twists and turns, more naughtiness, and "exciting announcements" from the BBC: that's right, it's Lip Service, episode three!

No related posts.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/lippy.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-12516" title="lippy" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/lippy.jpg" alt="" width="191" height="191" /></a>Are we half-way through the show now?  Say it ain&#8217;t so!</p>
<p>What did we learn on <a title="Lip Service - Gaelick.com" href="http://www.gaelick.com/tag/lip-service/" target="_blank"><em>Lip Service</em></a> last night? Tess is still being fecked around by the feckless rogue, Lou; CaSa are having wonderful rumpy-pumpy desk duty; Frankie is still quite mopy, but marginally more likeable (see below).</p>
<ul>
<li>Spontaneous Applause Award of the evening went to Sam&#8217;s character (<a title="Phwoar and Peace - Gaelick.com" href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/10/phwoar-and-peace/12275/" target="_blank">Heather Peace</a>) who told Cat (<a title="Álainn or Appalling: Laura Fraser - Gaelick.com" href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/10/laura-fraser/12307/" target="_blank">Laura Fraser</a>) to stop being a self-absorbed whinge-bag.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Collective Gasp Award of the evening went to the fabulous plot twist involving <a title="Frankly odd - Gaelick.com" href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/10/frankly-odd/12171/" target="_blank">Frankie</a> (Ruta Gedmintas), so now I don&#8217;t dislike her character so much!</li>
</ul>
<p>And before the show was aired, we learned the following: Actor, Heather Peace, and the show&#8217;s writer, Harriet Braun, were interviewed on London&#8217;s <a title="Resonance FM" href="http://resonancefm.com/" target="_blank">Resonance 104.4FM</a> yesterday evening. We&#8217;ll keep you posted if we hear word that there&#8217;s a podcast.  In the meantime, you can listen to Peace&#8217;s interview with Joel Kaftetz <a title="Heather Peace from BBC Lesbian Drama Lip Service on The Joel Kafetz Show - YouTube" href="
<p><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59-S3klHaYI">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59-S3klHaYI</a></p>
<p> target=&#8221;_blank&#8221;>here</a>.</p>
<p>Plus &#8211; BBC3 had a &#8220;exciting announcement&#8221;! Click <a title="Got a question for Lip Service actress Laura Fraser aka Cat? - BBC3 Blog" href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcthree/2010/10/got-a-question-for-lip-service-actress-laura-fraser-who-aka-cat.shtml" target="_blank">here</a> for info: the Beeb is giving you the chance to ask Laura Fraser any question y&#8217;like about being in Lip Service. Get your question in by 10am on Thursday 28th October and they&#8217;ll pick a selection of questions to ask Laura. Questions can be submitted via the Lip Service blog, twitter, facebook, carrier pigeon and smoke signals. &#8230;Perhaps not those last two.</p>
<p>Of course, what many people thought was the &#8220;exciting announcement&#8221; was whether there is news of a second series of the programme.  Here&#8217;s what <a title="Lip Service - BBC3" href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00tq4d9" target="_blank">BBC3</a> had to say <a title="@bbc3tv on Twitter - 26 October 2010" href="http://twitter.com/#!/bbc3tv/status/28794366115" target="_blank">in tweet format</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>Ah sorry to raise your hopes&#8230; We&#8217;ll have to wait til this series of <a title="LipService on Twitter" href="http://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23lipservice" target="_blank">#LipService</a> ends before hearing word about a second one.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>Now, if you&#8217;ll excuse me, I&#8217;m off to peel my eyes and glue them to my telly.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[HAL has previously had her spake about BBC3's Lip Service - in particular she seemed focused on that Frankie character, played by Ruta Gedmintas. Well, who I want to talk about is the character of Sam. Detective Sergeant Sam, to be precise.

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>HAL has previously had her spake about <a title="Lip Service - Gaelick.com" href="http://www.gaelick.com/tag/lip-service/" target="_blank">BBC3&#8242;s Lip Service</a> &#8211; in particular she seemed <a title="Frankly odd - Gaelick.com" href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/10/frankly-odd/12171/" target="_blank">focused on that Frankie character</a>, played by Ruta Gedmintas.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Heather-Peace-Sam-Lip-Service-BBC3-Facebook.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-12280" title="Heather Peace Sam Lip Service BBC3 Facebook" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Heather-Peace-Sam-Lip-Service-BBC3-Facebook-199x300.jpg" alt="" width="144" height="218" /></a>Well, who <strong>I</strong> want to talk about is the character of Sam. Detective Sergeant Sam Murray, to be precise. </p>
<p>(<span style="text-decoration: line-through;">Does she have a surname?  Do I care?</span> Yes, thanks to commenter Sue!)</p>
<p>While <a title="Álainn or Appalling: Laura Fraser" href="http://www.gaelick.com/2010/10/laura-fraser/12307/" target="_blank">Laura Fraser</a> is super duper &#8211; and she is, not least for having performed opposite Helen Baxendale in <em>The Investigator</em> (watch it, it&#8217;s excellent) &#8211; for me, her character Cat was summarily swept aside in episode two of <em>Lip Service</em> by Cat&#8217;s love interest, Heather Peace&#8217;s Sam. Lovely, lovely Heather Peace&#8230;</p>
<p>(sigh)</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Heather-Peace.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-12282 alignleft" title="Heather Peace" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Heather-Peace-243x300.jpg" alt="" width="141" height="173" /></a>Okay, there are those who aren&#8217;t exactly happy with the programme&#8217;s (non-)representation of butch lesbians, and I agree that Sam isn&#8217;t a butch character (is that really what we&#8217;re supposed to think??) but I don&#8217;t care!  That smile&#8230;  Those shirts&#8230; That authoritative air&#8230; That waistcoat&#8230; Those arms&#8230; That voice&#8230; Those cheek- er, cheekbones!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Heather-Peace-Londons-Burning.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-12281" title="Heather Peace Londons Burning" src="http://www.gaelick.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Heather-Peace-Londons-Burning.jpg" alt="" width="134" height="215" /></a>Episode two developed Sam&#8217;s character beyond the comic relief of Cat&#8217;s cringe worthiness.  And shouldn&#8217;t we be glad?  Just look. What wondrousness. Here&#8217;s the actor&#8217;s <a title="HeatherPeace.com" href="http://heatherpeace.com/" target="_blank">her website</a>. Here she is <a title="Heather Peace - Manchester Pride Patron - Manchester Pride 2010" href="http://www.manchesterpride.com/blog/post.aspx?ID=738" target="_blank">avec guitar</a> and being patron of Manchester Pride.  And here she is &#8211; let me sit down for this &#8211; <a title="Heather Peace - London's Burning" href="http://heatherpeace.com/gallery/heatherpeace-17/" target="_blank">as a firemanwoman</a> no less!  (She is there in that link, honestly.  Hidden right in the middle.)</p>
<p>And to top it all, she&#8217;s actually gay in real life.</p>
<p>Heather Peace (and DS Sam), I salute you!</p>
<p><strong>Update:</strong></p>
<p>BBC&#8217;s Lip Service promo, including Sam&#8217;s introduction to the show:</p>

<p>BBC&#8217;s snippet where &#8220;Cat makes an effort to improve her flirting technique whilst on a date with Sam&#8221;:</p>
