A recent survey (the source of which I can’t find) is quoted all over the interweb this week, as having the lesbian sex scene in Black Swan voted Sexiest Film Moment. Double-you tee eff? Here are just half a dozen other choices for your pleasure. And none of them are safe for work.

2008 saw the release of a truly loved lesbian movie the world over. Hanan Kattan and Shamim Sarif were inspired by their own love story and the resultant “I Can’t Thank Straight” touched us all and, for once, we left the movie theatre with a smile on our faces. Now the duo are back with a sequel, however, this time the story will be brought to us via the web

It’s cold out there folks, so I think you need something to warm your cockles, or your mussels, or both. So, I have put together a catalogue of some of the best sex scenes between women. Needless to say, this ain’t safe for work. Unless you work in my dream job.

Enlightenment Films has given us two of the best (if not the two best) lesbian films of the last few years; A World Unseen and I Can’t Think Straight. But they’ve been financially shafted by their distribution company. Shamim Sarif had a chat with us about it all.

This is going to be a bitch of a week. Pants to that! Let’s distract ourselves. How? With lovely ladies of course. Specifically lovely ladies kissing other lovely ladies. These vids are most definitely not safe for work, and I had a gay old time researching.

Do you think you have a busy life? Yes? Have you written three books, made two films, married, raised two children, started your own production company and launched the careers of some singers? Then had time to pen poetry, short stories and keep a blog up to date? How about winning awards for nearly all of the above? If you answered yes, you are either lying (naughty) or are Shamim Sarif (hi!).

Shamim Sarif has proven herself to be a bit of a renaissance woman, an award-winning novelist, songwriter, children’s-book writer, screenwriter and director, she was the recipient of AfterEllen’s International Lesbian/Bi Woman of the Year award last year. Now, finally in Ireland we can enjoy the first of her directorial outings, I Can’t Think Straight.

As we still cry out for representations of ourselves (and to be entertained), I’ve had a rummage through the next few months to see what gay films are coming up. Just one of the films will be coming to a cinema near you, the rest will be part of film festivals, so keep an eye out. Or you could…ahem…procure them from the internet..legally of course.
