OK, hands up who wants to move to Iceland? Not only do they have wicked glaciers, hot springs, volcanos and an openly gay prime minister in Jóhanna Sigurdardóttir, now they want to ban online porn. It sure seems like Iceland is going for the ‘best place in the whole world ever’ award, doesn’t it?

Reading about Iceland’s abolition of the sex-industry I realized that, we, as women, have lost so much respect for ourselves in so many ways that we don’t even notice it. I’m not saying every single woman has, but many of us have decided to go along with the over-the-top objectification of women and just fob-off filthy comments with a tired wave of the hand.

The times they are indeed a-changing. In the US of A, we have a mixed-race Prez and now in Iceland a lesbian has taken the reigns as the first out lesbian leader of any country. Not just that, but she is also the first woman to enter the office of PM in Iceland. Johanna Sigurdardotti has been given something of a poison chalice, however, as Iceland is in dire economic condition.
