Last night saw the second annual Cork Rebel Awards. The Awards were established as a non profit collaboration between the Cork Gay Project, Cork Pride, GayCork.com and L.inC to give recognition to members of Cork’s LGBT community.

Since last Sunday, the interwebs were all in a flurry over comments attributed to Stephen Fry. According to an article in The Observer, he is alleged to have said effectively that straight women are disgusted by straight men and by sex. When I read the article on Sunday morning, I was instantly suspicious.

Last Thursday week I headed to the Mezz bar in Templebar with a gang of friends to check out the new lesbian night, Spoon, which was being held there. Sporting a great atmosphere, awesome tunes and an eclectic crowd, Spoon is a night every lesbian should experienced.

Review: ‘The Kids Are All Right’
I do think there are potentially two good stories that could have been told in this film: one about a difficult time in a relationship between two women, and one about their kids finding their sperm donor. And in fact, I really did want to like this film. But what the hell is the story with that plot?

No Hate
Last night across the UK, vigils were held to speak out against hate crimes, and to remember those who have been victims. There is no hate crime legislation in Ireland, so in this country hate crimes technically don’t exist.
