Limerick’s application for the addition of Boxing & Wheelchair Rugby to the approved sports list for the 2018 Gay Games has been officially approved by the international Federation of Gay Games (FGG).
The Games have been held in cities as diverse as San Francisco in its debut year, Amsterdam, Sydney, New York, and in 2014, Cleveland. Now, Ireland is making a bid for 2018. And surprisingly it’s coming from outside the Pale. Limerick finds itself against four other cities in competition for the Games
Sometimes coming out leaves you wrapped up warm in your Spice Girls duvet, inhaling the Ben and Jerry’s, and praying for the world to forget about you. If you want to take the more practical option to dealing with this upheaval, here are my steps for survival!
Last week, Limerick Pride 2012 was officially launched as the final preparations were being put in place for another year. Rounding off the nation’s Pride festivals, Limerick Pride will be a mix of celebration, entertainment, education and awareness. Here are some of the highlights!
Do you and your other half know what makes for an amazing night out in your city? Reckon you can show the nation how it’s done and beat two other couples at their own game in a brand new programme for RTÉ? Whether you’re into rockabilly, jazz, or death metal; know where to find the best foodie feast or a great live band; or prefer a night at the opera or the karaoke – RTÉ wants to hear from you!

(…What’s the name again..?) But that’s not all, there’s plenty more besides. Read on for this weekend’s festive offerings!
As December approaches, the social and festive events keep a-coming – from Dublin to Cork to Galway, and from Limerick to Leitrim to Fermanagh. So get out there!

Attention bis, leslies and transfolks! There is plenty happening to keep you occupied this weekend, so I thought, “What better than to present all of that information in one handy post?” (Plus, I decided to call it a BLT Sandwich. And I’m not even sorry.)
The final of the Ms. Gay Ireland competition was held in Limerick recently, and I was able to ask the winner, Emma Parkes (a bartender in The George) a few questions about her new role. Judging by her answers, we will be seeing great things from her this year!
