Reconciling Religion

Jan 15th, 2013 | By kstew | Category: This and That

I started questioning my spiritual beliefs just before I made my Confirmation. Science and doubt pervaded my thoughts and I flipped between blasphemous atheism and overwhelming Catholic guilt until I was fourteen.

Julie Bindel

Oct 4th, 2012 | By Aoife | Category: Featured, This and That

A few months back, Bindel wrote an article for the Huffington Post called “Where’s the Politics in Sex?”. There are things she says that make sense. Like how we all face compulsory heterosexuality from birth. And how she made a positive choice to be a lesbian. Good for her! We really do live in a world that assumes heterosexuality of (almost) all of us. And choosing to embrace your sexuality, to decide who and how you will love is brilliant.

Stone Butch Blues

Being at a loose end for a good read, I started asking friends what would be on their “essential reading” list. The same title kept coming up over and over again, “Stone Butch Blues” by Leslie Feinberg.

Morning Gaelickers! Webmaster here reporting from my very own ark. You know people say we, as in the Irish talk more about the weather than any other subject -I have yet to see any evidence of that. Okay I jest. Let’s get down to the headlines making the rounds this morning in cyberspace.

Morning Gaelickers! I don’t quite know what to make of that orange ball in the sky that’s emitting heat but hey, let’s enjoy it while its there eh? It was appalling.

Morning Gaelickers! 1 day to go. For those of you gazing at me with blank expressions I am of course talking about Lip Service’s return to the Beeb tomorrow night. Some of us are counting down to it. I think the Gaelick team are divided fairly equally into two camps. Team Frankie, puts up hand, and Team Boring Sam ;)

Morning Gaelickers! Not sure how it’s looking wherever you are but here in Dublin it’s currently grey skies. I’m sure it will brighten up. I don’t know what to make of March so far, the first day of March was a beautiful Spring day, the last week icy winds. I can’t wear sun-glasses AND a wolly hat, I will look ridiculous. Enough pontificating about the weather, the news!

Morning Gaelickers! Hope you are all refreshed after a weekend of rest and relaxation. I am having tech rage with my lovely alarm clock. The stoopid thing decided to reset itself this morning, how does a clock do that? Its a fairly fancy one with an ipod docking station and all that jazz.

“Work It” and the need for LGB activism on T issues

Jan 12th, 2012 | By tabula rasa | Category: This and That

This week, I lost quite a bit of faith in the LGBT student movement. What started off as a link left on a wall of a Facebook group, turned into a week-long debate that has left me somewhat disillusioned and if I’m honest, a little bit heartbroken. I don’t know if you have heard of the offensive train wreck of a television show called Work It currently being aired by ABC?
