Katie Taylor has become a hero for both boys and girls. I think that is the real success story. I think it’s very safe to say that she is the first Irish female athlete to become a hero for young boys.
If you’re an early riser, and will in Dublin’s city centre tomorrow, you can catch a glimpse of 52 Irish people carrying the Olympic flame through the capital. The relay starts at 9:30am from the Croke Park skyline and will wind its way north and south of the Liffey, finishing at St. Stephen’s Green at 12 noon.
Here’s a radical notion: women are people. It was a relief to learn that I wasn’t alone in thinking that, when I attended yesterday’s Sport for Business meeting to discuss Irish women in sport and the challenges – and opportunities – they face.
